Fulled wool is woven wool fabric that has been treated in hot and cold baths to partially felt and firm the fabric. This results in a dense fabric with edges that will not ravel. Sometimes this is called felted wool, but felting refers to the same process applied to unstructured wool (like batts) that eventually forms a solid fabric. If your project requires a heavier, denser fabric, simply repeat the hot and cold cycles in your washer until the desired weight is achieved.

Dyeing fulled wool is a new and exciting adventure for me, the dyes move differently on fabric than on roving or fleece offering new ways to manipulate color. Tendrils of color provide a base for surface embellishment: beads, rovings, novelty yarns or whatever your imagination suggests to you. A 34" x 51" length will make a vest, 2 will make a box jacket. Colors below are approximate and, in general, are softer and more subtle than the image shows.
